| In selecting the players for this period, it was a matter of looking back into the record books. In the case of Bob Hawkes, Reg Kingham, Hugh McGinnigle, Tom Hodgson and Tom Mackey it would be for their long service to the club. In the case of both Mackey and Hodgson that would continue long after their playing days had ended. Ernie Simms, Andy Rennie, Joe Payne and Hugh Billington are here for their goalscoring exploits. Fred Kean, an FA Cup winner and England International was in the twilight of his career by the time he joined Luton. But at Luton he became in inspirational captain who led the team during the 1932/33 FA Cup run. Jack Nelson, and George Stephenson were important members of the 1936/37 Division 3 South Championship winning side. And finally Joe Coen another player from the late 1930`s. Sadly he lost his life fighting for his country during the Second World War |
